Excess moisture in concrete slabs is one of the leading causes of flooring failure in commercial and residential construction. ATR offers expert moisture mitigation services designed to control vapor transmission, prevent adhesive breakdown, and protect your finish flooring — whether you’re installing LVT, carpet, wood, tile, or epoxy systems.
Whether the slab is new or part of an existing renovation, we use industry-standard testing methods to evaluate slab moisture and apply high-performance vapor barrier systems that keep your flooring warranty-compliant and long-lasting.
Prevents adhesive failure (bubbling, peeling, delamination)
Reduces the risk of mold growth beneath flooring
Ensures compatibility with finish materials
Protects against future flooring failure and costly rework
Maintains manufacturer warranty compliance
RH testing & calcium chloride testing

We begin with a detailed moisture evaluation, using field-proven methods like RH (Relative Humidity) testing per ASTM F2170, or calcium chloride tests (ASTM F1869), depending on the flooring system and site conditions. These tests measure the vapor emission rate or internal humidity of the concrete slab.
If excessive moisture is present, we apply a moisture vapor barrier — typically a two-part epoxy coating designed to block vapor transmission. These systems are compatible with most adhesives and underlayments and are ideal for both new construction and renovation projects.
We also ensure the slab is properly profiled and clean prior to application, meeting CSP standards for bond strength and performance.
